Why Mindset Matters

A healthy, well developed mindset is fundamental to focus and success. Mindset begins with a powerful tool that we all have – our own thoughts. The thoughts we maintain, directly impact the actions we take. Our actions in turn have a direct impact on achieving our goals.

These are some examples of how to assess your current mindset and areas in which to create healthy mental habits.

1. Self-worth – You must believe in your ability to achieve the goals you set, regardless of internal messages, or other people’s opinions. Be aware of and monitor your inner dialog, or self-talk. Guard yourself from accepting negative opinions about your ability to succeed.

2. Perspective – Instead of viewing events as happening “to” you and fearing the possible consequences, consider the meaning or value in these things as they are instead happening “around” you, and put your focus on the actions you can take to positively impact the outcome. Uncomfortable situations will come; how you face them is a result of mindset.

 
3. Motivation – Focus, effort and consistency are required in order to create and keep a crystal-clear vision of your journey to achieving your goals. Focusing on your personal “WHY” encourages your dedication (effort) to your purpose. Continued effort brings results, which increases the motivation to succeed.
 
4. Mental Resilience (Overcoming Fears and Challenges) – Instead of allowing roadblocks to overwhelm you, shift your viewpoint to see the potential growth or lesson, and continue pursuing your goals with anticipation of learning something.
